Remember them

What is Remembrance Day…….

At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November the Germans called for an armistice in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted allied terms that they had to agree to  surrender.

What did we do…..

Our class made poppies and hung them on a tree outside the classroom.

My WW1 Diggers Diary.

This week at school we have been writing different days in a Diggers Diary. Our criteria was to write a day that had about 77 words. We had to include 3-5 slang words or more.

August 16th 1915.

I’m in my super uncozy trench and I didn’t get any sleep last night. I really need a spell! The fumes from the dead body’s are toxic! The annoying fles are biting heavily but I’m still with me great mates. These Abdul’s are some good fighters. They could hit you from a mile away. The food supplies aren’t very good. The Army biscuits are as hard as Metal and could break your teeth any day!

Thats my Diggers Diary.
